I’ll never forget the first real meal I tried to cook on my own – a simple pasta dish that somehow turned into a mushy, oversalted disaster. At 22 years old, standing in my tiny apartment kitchen with smoke alarms blaring, I realized I didn’t know the first thing about cooking.

Growing up, I’d never paid much attention when my mom cooked. Like many young adults, I survived on:

  • Microwave meals that never satisfied
  • The occasional sad attempt at scrambled eggs

But when I calculated how much I was spending on delivery apps, I knew something had to change. My cooking journey started with three basic recipes I practiced over and over: roasted chicken thighs, stir-fried vegetables, and a simple tomato pasta. There were many failures along the way – burnt offerings, undercooked disasters, and flavorless experiments.

Finding My Confidence in the Kitchen

After months of stubbornly working through failed recipes, something unexpected happened – I started looking forward to cooking. What began as a necessity slowly became my favorite part of the day. Here’s what changed:
